Asian American Women’s Safety Net, the first organization of its kind in New Jersey formed to support Asian American women (including those from the Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Vietnamese, Pakistani, Japanese, Korean and Moslem communities) who are victims of domestic violence
FROM THE FOUNDER's DESK
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS A CRIME THAT KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES. IT DOES NOT DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN AGE, RACE, COLOR, INCOME, OR STATUS. YET—AS WE ARE ALL TOO AWARE—FOR WOMEN OF ASIAN DESCENT, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS DEVASTATING IN MANY WAYS NOT COMMON TO OTHER CULTURES.
ASIAN WOMEN WHO SUFFER FAMILY VIOLENCE CLEARLY HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS. AND WE ARE HERE TONIGHT TO HELP ENSURE THAT THEY ARE AFFORDED ACCESS TO CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE ASSISTANCE AND SERVICES. TO ENSURE THEY WILL NO LONGER FEEL AS IF THEY ARE SUFFERING ALONE.
